On the drive to work...

[The NEW school Joy Williams]
*photo taken from Google Images
So I do not usually listen to the radio, but I am currently driving a car without a tape or CD player...it is insane!!! Only the radio is available to me while in the car. At first, I flipped back and forth between 105.3 and 104.5, then switched to 105.7, and did a rotation of the three channels. Finally I decided to check what was on 88.9 Way-FM which is a Christian radio station (which I don't usually listen to, but between the three other radio stations there wasn't anything good to listen to).

The first song that they played was an upbeat, dance track (I wish I knew the name and artist of the song) which suprised me because I would usually hear them play contemporary stuff. Well the next track they played was a contemporary Christian Rock song: Switchfoot - "Awakening". After that, the next song they played was an Indie track which it also suprised me a little bit. At first I thought it was a Feist track, but in fact it was Joy Williams track.

For a moment I was in a state of awe and amazement. My morning turned from regular to musical WOW (yeah that's right)! Her style has changed! She has gone from contemporary to indie; it is incredible and I like it...a lot! This also goes to show that electronic produced songs are becoming popular in the music world. Here is the Joy Williams track they played
:
Now compare this to a Feist track:
Now compare the NEW school Joy Williams with the OLD school Joy Williams:

"My Saving Grace" [Song of the DAY!]

ATB feat. Aruna - "My Saving Grace"

Is reach into the heart of you
Is as simple and true as the love you inspire in me
So let me fall

If I go, would you wait? Would you wander
Would you know what I’m thinking and why I’m ashamed
Of the girl I am and the stranger that I became
Hold tight to the heart of an angel you’ll never know
Cuz her face looks more like mine
And it keeps you going just knowing I’m here tonight

So let me fall, let me love youLet me free your inner child
Let me sit inside your silence
Let me ease the hurt you hide
Cuz I’m alive, I’m unlucky
I’m a line too fine to trace
But I could be your consolation
If you’d be my saving grace

My wild world is the shape of a sound that can’t be heard
But it rings when I’m unraveled by you
There’s a quiet storm and my skin gets torn and I wake brand new
Higher and brighter than yesterday
But I’m still a dark, mysterious night
When the sun descends and the moon leads you to my side

So let me fall, let me love you
Let me free your inner child
Let me sit inside your silence
Let me ease the hurt you hide
Cuz I’m alive, I’m unlucky
I’m a line too fine to trace
But I could be your consolation
If you’d be my saving grace

Just reach into the heart of you
Is as simple and true as the love you inspire in me
So let me fall

All I wanna do is reach into the heart of you
All I wanna be is as simple and true as the love you inspire ïn me
So let me fall, let me fall

"Falling Hard" [Song of the DAY!]

*From their "Divided By Night" (2009) album

I am running,
I will meet you halfway.
When I get there will you be waiting for me?
I am scared,
that you don't feel the same.
And after all,
just how much can I take?

[Chorus]
Heaven help me, I say I'm in love, I'm all in love with you.
I can't help myself, I've fallen down, I'm falling hard for you.

I can't sleep,
and I don't know what to say.
What we want isn't always what we need.

[Chorus]
Heaven help me, I think I'm in love, I'm all in love with you.
I can't help myself I've fallen down, I'm falling hard for you.

For you.

Do do do do do.

I don't wanna be by myself. I want you here, I want you here

Do do do do do.

Heaven help me now.

Ferry Corsten - Twice in a Blue Moon (2008)

Twice in a Blue Moon

A week ago, I posted a note on facebook about "albums to get your hands on" and my friend suggested several electronic groups/artists among them was Ferry Corsten. Last time I listened to his songs it did not really click with me, I did not capture me. But since then my sense of musicality has broaden. So I recently I decided to take a listen to his new record...it was nothing but AWESOME!!! I got to admit I was kind of skeptical at first, but from begininng to end the whole record is freakin' sweet! It is a must get! It has finally arrived here in Grand Rapids, MI! So yesterday I went to BestBuy to go get a copy of Mos Def's "The Ecstatic" and to check out/digg for other CDs. The following was so unexpected. When I first walked in the store I immediately went to the first stacks of new releases near by the entrance. I started at the top of the stack and kept browsing down to the bottom. Suddenly I spotted a CD I thought I'd never see: "Volume: The Best of Paul Van Dyk" - short story: I GOT IT! This record is a 3 disc set: 2 CDs and a DVD. The first disc is a compliation of greatest hit songs by the man PVD. The second disc contains remixes of JT, U2, Depeche Mode, and many more by the man himself. If you love trance music, and you know PVD, you will love this record...it is a must get!
